The Story of Our Field

Over the past several years, the Murray Pearson Memorial Ball Park has undergone major renovations, bringing together hundreds of adults and youth each season.

Thanks to the efforts of KBSA board members, coaches, volunteers, players, sponsors, and the Village of Kaslo, we’ve improved the field, enhanced safety, and created spaces for families and fans to enjoy games together. We are excited to continue improving the ballpark and creating more opportunities for our community to play, cheer, and celebrate together.

The History of Baseball in Kaslo

What started as a shared love of the game has evolved into a community-wide effort to improve our programs and preserve the historic ballpark for generations to come. Our growth and improvements over the past few years were all made possible with support from the Village of Kaslo and grants from the Regional District of Central Kootenay.

2016 | Youth Baseball Begins

Kaslo Youth Baseball started with a single T-Ball team. Today, it supports six divisions and over 70 players, building skills, confidence, and a love of the game season after season.

2018 | Adult Slo-Pitch Launches

Four teams came together to play on a sandlot-style field. The league now runs a nine-week season with 10 teams and 130 players, ending in a week-long playoff celebration full of raffles, food trucks, beer gardens, and community spirit.

2019 | KBSA is Formed

The Kaslo Baseball & Softball Association was created through the merger of Youth Baseball and Adult Slo-Pitch, coming together to grow the sport while preserving and improving our historic ballpark.

2019-2024 | Field Transformation

We completed some major upgrades including a fully rebuilt infield with proper irrigation, drainage, shale, and new grass, along with new perimeter fencing to improve safety for players and spectators.

2024 | Major Milestones

We introduced custom timberframe dugouts with the generous support from Lardeau Forest Products and Tree to Truss Timberframing. We also added an electric scoreboard and batting cage, with support from the Village of Kaslo and RDCK grants.
